Green Hornet

Registered First Year Leaders, Co-Leaders, Assistant Leaders

The Candidate has fulfilled the position with enthusiasm and vigor and has provided a well-rounded program including:

  • A service project
  • Participation in the annual Cookie Sale (Daisy Age-Level optional)
  • Attendance at 2/3 of their Service Unit Meetings
  • Completion of Leader 101, Orientation, and Leadership Essentials plus one additional course or workshop
  • Troop participation in a Service Unit or Council Event

Recipients are determined by the Service Unit Awards Committee

Silver Hornet

Registered Adult Volunteers

  • Must be an active adult member for five or more years
  • Must have rendered continuous service for betterment of the Girl Scout Program
  • Has met the volunteer position description requirements

No Form - Recipients are determined by the Service Unit Awards Committee

Gold Hornet

Registered Adult Volunteers

  • Must be an active adult member for ten or more years
  • Must have rendered continuous service for the betterment of the Girl Scout Program
  • Must have served on a Service Unit Team for at least one year or chaired a Service Unit event

No Form - Recipients are determined by the Service Unit Awards Committee

Outstanding Volunteer

Registered Adult Volunteers

**Not for First Year Leaders

  • The Volunteer's contributions are beyond the expectations of the position and benefit the entire Service Unit.
  • The candidate has completed appropriate training, or if no training exists, has demonstrated competence for the position.
  • The candidate has performed at a level that exceeds the expectations of the position as outlined in the position description agreement.

Outstanding Leader

  • The candidate has completed required training.
  • Candidate has demonstrated compentency in girl/adult planning, communication, membership development, pluralism, and program delivery
  • Candidate's work with girls has exceeded expectations for the position.

Outstanding Troop

All Troops

  • Completed report forms and payment must be submitted to the GSHNC Service Center by April 30th, to the attention of your Membership Specialist.
  • Each activity can fulfill only one requirement, which must have been accomplished during the current Girl Scout year.
  • All activities used to meet requirements for the award may also be applied toward other badge, patch, IPP, or award requirements in GSUSA or GSHNC council Programs.

Leadership Development Pin & Leaves

Registered Leaders, Co-Leaders, Assistant Leaders, and Group Coordinators

  • Complete one year in this position.
  • Complete the three required Adult Learning Courses: Getting Started/Leader 101, Orientation, and Leadership Essentials/Continuing the Excellence
  • Complete First Aid/CPR, Exploring Outdoors/Be Safe, Be Ready and Preplan Troop Camp Overnight/Fire Building and Outdoor Cooking and Overnight Camp Experience
  • Attended two types of meetings/events beyond the troop level.
Leaves:
  • Ten hours of training = one green leaf.
  • After receiving five leaves, the recipient may turn them in for one silver leaf.
  • Five silver leaves may be turned in for one gold leaf.

Community Awareness

All Union1 Troops

Troops must accomplish five activities:

  • Fulfill the age-level requirement noted.
  • Complete 3 additional activities from those remaining.
  • Submit an article with the form on what requirements were completed and how they were fulfilled.
