Frequently Asked Questions

Q:
I can't find a registration form for a Union1 event.  Is it on the website?
A: No. It is Union1 policy not to include any information that indicates dates, times and places of Union1 events. All registration forms are sent via the Newsletter, email and are posted on Big Tent under the Forms tab. Please plan to keep emails until after the event so you can refer to them if needed. Contact the Website Coordinator if you cannot find the form that you need.

Q: What is Big Tent?
A: Big Tent is an internet application that allows groups to log into a password protected site and communicate with others in the group. It is being used by Union 1 as a convenient way to email specific sub-groups such as Daisys, Brownies, etc. without inundating the entire leader network with emails that do not pertain to them specifically. It also allows us to post registrations forms and detailed information in a secure location to maintain the safety of our girls while participating in Service Unit activities.

Q: Who do I contact if I'm having trouble with Big Tent?
Email Lee-Anne and she will be happy to assist you in establishing your account.

Q: How can my troop get Union1 support for a Bronze/Silver/Gold collection project?
A: Look under the Monthly Service Projects tab for detailed information on collections for a project. If you still have questions you may contact a Service Unit Manager for more information. An adult and one or more girls from your troop will need to present your project to the Union1 Team at a Service Unit Team Meeting before going before the leaders at the Service Unit Meeting. If your project is approved, it will be added to the Union1 Website and included in the Union1 Newsletter.

Q: When do I need to complete a Community Service form?
A: You need to complete a Community Service Form for all community service projects that you participate in. This includes Troop projects, Union1 projects, and Council projects.

Q: When am I required to submit a Troop Trip Application?
A: When it is an overnight trip or a high risk activity.

Q: Who do I send my Troop Trip Application to?
A: Send it to the Union1 Service Unit Manager, Darlene F. She will sign it and send it on to Council for approval and you will get a copy back. Please remember to submit an itinerary and a roster of all those participating, including adults.

Q: When do I send my Troop Trip Application?
A: One month prior to your trip. It should also be accompanied by an itinerary and a roster of all those participating, including adults.

Q: Where do I send Community Service forms?
A: Send it to our Membership Specialist at GSHNC.

Q: What is WAGGGS?
A: World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.

Q: Where can I find SWAP ideas?
A: Look on this website under "Helpful Links" for lots of ideas.

Q: Where can I find email addresses for the Union1 Team?
