Hello Leaders:  I hope to see you all at our February District meeting this Sunday.  Remember, we begin at 2:00 PM with our general meeting--1:30 PM for new leader meeting.

Want a night out with your "special someone?"  We are offering a Parents Night Out on Friday, February 15th.  Dinner, games and crafts are on the agenda.  Cost is $10.00 for the first child, $5.00 for each additional.  This event is hosted by our 8 Destinations girls and their parents as well as other adult volunteers.  A nurse will be on staff that evening.

Our Destinations girls are planning several events in the upcoming months that you won't want to miss.  More information about it all will be shared at the District meeting.

See you at the meeting!

Gail

February Service Project:  CHAMPIONS Horse Project

Junior Troop 3403 presented information at the January District Meeting regarding their Bronze Award project.  They are helping Bridleheart Crossing continue to provide programs which help abused and abandoned children living in the foster care system.  The owner of the farm currently provides snacks, crafts, a framed picture, goody bags, and free lessons to these children at her own expense bi-weekly. The girls are collecting items at the FEBRUARY District Meeting which will help this program continue Union County.  Click here for a complete list of items to be collected:  http://www.union1girlscouts.com/Champions.pdf.

n       Union1 achieved 25% of its $13,250 Family Campaign goal by 12/31/07 and won a $50 gift certificate to Promise Provisions as well as FIRST choice of dates for a District Encampment. Thanks to everyone who supported this effort!

n       For those troops who participated in the Union1 Family Campaign Coin Drive, click here if you would like to order patches:  http://www.union1girlscouts.com/Union1CoinDrive2007Patch.pdf.  Deadline for ordering patches is February 10th at the District Meeting.

Hi! My name is Chelsea and I am in Troop #939. I am trying to get my Leadership Award requirements for my Silver Award by putting on a Super Science Sunday event. So bring all your girls and come have fun while earning your Science Wonders and Science in Action Try-Its! We will be learning how to make invisible ink, disappearing colors, gloop that is neither solid nor liquid, and much more! Space is limited so register early!  Thank you.

Military Bronze Award Project by Troop #1279

Learning, Bonding & Fun – by Shelley, Leader, Troop #3610

Troop 3610 had quite the adventure at the South Carolina State Museum Camp-In. This is a great program that many are not aware of.  The museum has a program for Girl Scouts to spend an evening of fun and learning followed by sleeping inside the museum.  Their current theme is "go green" and this spring, we are concentrating on the environment and thinking "green," so it was a pro quo.  My girls kept waiting for the dinosaurs to come alive and experience a "Night at the Museum".  While, the dinosaurs left us alone, we still indeed had a "night at the museum"!!!  If you want a different and fun field trip and want to camp without the elements, this is the way to go!
