District
Meeting Recap
April 2008
Hello
Leaders, Here's some news from today's meeting:
1. Please mark your
calendars--our May District meeting will be held on May 18th as the previous Sunday is
Mother's Day. Also mark your calendars for our Leader Banquet on May 31st.
Cost has yet to be determined but it is usually around $10 per person.
Spouses are welcome to attend--dinner, awards for leaders & auction.
Lots of fun and good times! A flyer will be going out in about 2-3
weeks.
2. Please
remember to give the families of the girls in your troops
information about our Carnival and Auction on May 3rd benefiting the
Destinations girls. We are looking forward to this first ever event for
our District and know everyone will want to be a part of it!
3. On the subject
of the Carnival/Auction--we had some troops and individuals bring in their
"themed" baskets today. (Thank you to those who did). It
is still not too late to donate. We will accept baskets up until the day
of the auction. We will come and pick them up from you or you can bring
them with you that day. If you would like a "pick up" please
email me.
4. Jesse and Gini of troop 497 are hosting the Brownie Lock-In
which you previously received information about. Send in your
registrations soon.
5. Bridget is
hosting "Fire Safety" presentations at local Fire Departments as part
of her Gold Award project For more
information contact Bridget.
6. Jacqui from Troop
1000 is collecting books for a local high school. She will be doing this
over the next few months. You can drop off donations at any of our
District meetings from now thru early 2009.
7. Pam P, our
Brownie Age-level consultant is asking for donations of yarn (any kind, any
color) for Day Camp for this year (and would also like to borrow some crochet
hooks, size G).
8. Speaking of
Day Camp--please remember that registrations
cannot be accepted before April 21st!! Some have already
been returned because they were sent in too early. If your registration
is postmarked before April 21st (meaning it arrives at our registrar's house
this upcoming week) it will be HELD
and not processed until all others are.
9. Our District
community service project for May (bring to the May District meeting) is
cleaning supplies for Habitat for Humanity. Buckets, mops, brooms, paper
towels, dusters, cleaners, etc. are needed.
10. Please
remember if you are submitting your Outstanding Troop paperwork (due to Council
by April 30th), I
also need a copy of your Annual Troop Report and your latest bank statement.
If you dropped your paperwork in the turn-in box today, please email me with
your name and troop number. Those papers were already taken by the
Council representative.
Thanks for all you do!
Gail
