District Meeting Recap

September 2007

We would like to welcome our new leaders to Union 1 and thank those who came to the District meeting for the first time today.  Thanks also to those who participated in the "Birthday Bag" community service project by bringing in items.

n      Thanks to:

    1. Troop 1278 for leading our flag ceremony
    2. Lauren and Angie for telling us about their Destination trips (they are both available to come to your troop meetings to talk to your girls about Destinations)

n      "Froggie" from troop 1000 is collecting used eye glasses (including sunglasses) as part of a community service project.  If you have any to donate please bring them to our next District meeting in October.

n      Please note that anyone who has not responded to our website/newsletter coordinator with their updated information, will be removed from our leader group email list as of 12 midnight tonight!

n      Our District website www.union1girlscouts.com is a great "font" on information.  Use it!

n      We need help with facilitating events/activities.  Sign up folders for committees were available at the District meeting and will be at the next few meetings also.  However, we are in need of help NOW for our Jr & Up Camporee taking place November 9-11.  You do not have to join the committee--just let us know you can come for the weekend and help.

n      Fall Sale information was given out today.  If you are still in need of packets for your troop, please email Chris.   Fall Sale reports are due to Chris by Friday, October 5th.  (Do not wait until the next District meeting to hand in this paperwork.  It will be too late).

n      There was information about special presentations for Girl Scouts of the Nutcracker by the Union County Youth Ballet.  Please email Donna C. for more information on this.

n      Family Campaign information was also shared.  Please go to our website for more info on this.

n      Remember we have two recruitments coming up this week--Friday at Weddington UM from 7-9 PM  (If you are helping out with this, be there at 6:00 PM) and then on Saturday at Faith Baptist Church in Hemby Bridge from 10 AM to 12 noon.  (If helping with this one, be there at 9 AM).  This is a new location for us.  It is off Secrest Shortcut Road in the Hemby Bridge/Indian Trail area on Faith Church Road.  The following week on Thursday (9/20) we have a recruitment at Waxhaw UM 7-9 PM (be there at 6 PM to help).

n      Uniform Swap hosted by troop 2537 will take place this Saturday.  The leader of this troop, Jessica, sent out an email yesterday to remind you of this.  Any questions contact her.

n      Delegates were trained today.  If you are a delegate and missed the training, Marcia, our lead delegate will be in touch with you to schedule a time for you to take the training.
